Nudea are committed to bringing quality underwear, always prioritising sustainability at the core. They partner with suppliers and factories who are as committed to responsible development. The Nudea factory is based in Portugal and invests not only in innovative ways to reduce waste and energy, but also to create a safe and respectful environment for its employees. Each of our garments are skillfully made by local women who are trained and then employed by the factory, helping to preserve the rich textile heritage of this community.

The factory is part of a fully vertical group of garment units, knitting mills and dye houses to not only stitch Nudea bras and briefs together, but to create premium fabrics too.

The factory group is Higg FEM, GOTS, Sedex, Fairtrade and ISO 9001 certified. All of its internal labs are accredited with ISO/IEC 17025.

Nudea use recycled materials sourced from Italy in their product range, this significantly reduces the carbon footprint and lowers the impact of their products. See each individual item for a breakdown of the materials used.

When we think about mindful consumption, cost per use is a way of evaluating whether or not your purchase is sustainable or not. Asking questions like “will I use/wear this piece more than 30 times?” “Will I fix it when it breaks?” “When I’ve finished using it, will I extent the lifespan of the item by giving it to someone I know/charity?” All of these actions will decrease the overall carbon footprint of your purchase.

How do you work out the cost per use? Divide the price of the product by 30! We use 30 as this is the average amount of uses items are thought to have.

As well as doing all they can to keep their footprint as low as possible, Nudea are proudly carbon neutral. To ensure they fully understand our true environmental impact, Nudea have conducted a full carbon emission Life Cycle Assesment (LCA) with the help of BeZero Carbon. Nudea are not only carbon neutral, they are climate positive! Read more below to explain how and why they have achieved this.

In 2020, the Nudea total carbon footprint was 24.5 tCO2e. This sounds like a lot and to be fair, it is the equivalent of driving 113,000km by car, but that is significantly less than the industry standard. While Nudea are doing their best to reduce this number as much as possible, the reality is that they can never reduce that number to zero. That's where offsetting carbon comes in.

Nudea are not only are we carbon neutral, but they offset more carbon than they create. 8.5 tonnes more to be exact. This makes Nudea a climate positive brand!

Nudea have created a CareMore Pledge to communicate their social efforts. Their aim is to keep you in your bra for longer and create a supporting commuity for their customers. Whenever you shop with Nudea, they funnel money back into the community on top of finding the most sustainable planet and people-friendly solutions for your favourite underwear.
