SeeMe was born while walking through the souks and back streets of Tunis. After almost two decades of reporting on women's conditions in the Middle East and North African regions Caterina Occhio, SeeMe’s founder, decided to take matters in her own hands. Through her reports and travels she, unsurprisingly, discovered that being a single mother in the region equals being unsuitable for work, for marriage and for society. SeeMe was therefore born as a safe haven, training centre and work place for women otherwise deemed lost. On top of being a safe resort and source of income for survivors in Tunisia, it also strives to positively influence established brands in the fashion world, supporting an ethical approach to their sourcing procedures.

SeeMee proudly use recycled materials such as silver, and fair trade gold. To ensure that the materials they use are not putting extra harm on our planet.

When we think about mindful consumption, cost per use is a way of evaluating whether or not your purchase is sustainable or not. Asking questions like “will I use/wear this piece more than 30 times?” “Will I fix it when it breaks?” “When I’ve finished using it, will I extent the lifespan of the item by giving it to someone I know/charity?” All of these actions will decrease the overall carbon footprint of your purchase.

How do you work out the cost per use? Divide the price of the product by 30! We use 30 as this is the average amount of uses items are thought to have.

On top of being a safe resort and source of income for survivors in Tunisia, it also strives to positively influence established brands in the fashion world, supporting an ethical approach to their sourcing procedures. SeeMe has collaborated with worldwide renowned fashion brands such as, among others, Karl Lagerfeld, Missoni and Tommy Hilfiger. SeeMe employs women, often single mothers, who have suffered violence and were ostracised from their communities. Through training SeeMe women learn the craft of jewellery making following ancient Tunisian techniques. Therefore, while fostering their country's traditions they also secure a workplace for themselves and a future for their families.
